Yourgasms.com – Some people believe porn exploits women. For you, do you feel the adult industry is exploitive or empowering?

Jessy Dubai – Good question! I believe it’s a double edge sword. It all depends how a performer carries his or her career, which is true whatever career path you choose. For me it was empowering because I made all the decisions about my career myself. I “exploited” myself to reach the top, yet I never felt exploited. I feel accomplished. This industry can be exploitive if you let it be. You must actively search for castings and shoots that you want to do instead if just lazily waiting for offers to come along.

I’ve seen many girls get exploited by their agents, managers etc. But, in a way, that’s their choice. They put themselves in that position. They have the power to set themselves free and to take charge of their career. Sadly, some don’t exercise that power for fear they won’t make it. So, they allow others to take control. They allow themselves to be exploited because they do not take charge.

Yourgasms.com – What advice do you give to new TS performers?

Jessy – 1. Be nice to everybody. You are NOT A STAR, at least not yet, so don’t let it get to your head. Remember that you never know who’s hand you are shaking. Don’t burn your bridges.

2. If you are use to just bottoming or toping, remember to always be prepared for both. That means being squeaky clean and having your boner pills on hand, if you take any. Trust me, you don’t want to have an accident in your first scene or have any issues not being able to get hard. Anything that delays the production will make you look unprofessional.

3. Find out what your best angles are. Learn about lighting. This helps the directors and the camera crew and makes the scenes go much smoother.

Yourgasms.com – Which was more difficult: coming out to your family as transgendered or as an adult performer?

Jessy – My family always knew I was a fairy, lol. I didn’t come out to my family. I literally was pushed out, lol. I was 15 when my father found me walking in girls clothes home from a party. That night was the night I had to let it all out and tell my father I wanted to be a woman. It was hard but the beans were out of the bag so the words just came pouring out of my mouth. Telling my father, well my whole family, that I was gonna be doing porn was waaayyyyy easier. I literally told my father – “Pà, what would you say if I wanted to do porn?” He replied by saying, “Are you stupid or what?” He looked me in the eyes and asked, “What did you do?” I told him the truth and showed him part of the scene I did for Kink and told him how happy I was and that I was going to be a porn star. He wasn’t happy at first but eventually he smiled and said, “It’s your body and your life. Just be careful, stay healthy, and don’t get in trouble.”

Jessy – Every time I meet someone who recognizes me or who goes out of his/her way to say hello, it’s always a fulfilling experience for me.
